We are looking to fill a temporary Therapist position due to a leave of absence. Position may transition to a permanent role after 12 weeks.

Position Summary:

This is a clinical position involving the therapeutic treatment of children and adolescents with severe emotional, behavioral, or social issues, including but not limited to mood disorders with or without suicidal ideation, severe anxiety disorders involving debilitating obsessions and compulsions or school refusal, cognitive disorders involving psychotic symptomology such as schizoaffective disorder or schizophrenia, and pervasive developmental disorders such as high functioning autism. Provide individual, group, and, at times, family therapy and case management services. Participate in clinical supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist and programmatic and general supervision from the Principal.

Essential Functions:

60% Therapy Services: Includes individual and group therapy for children and adolescents, as well as family therapy and case management services on an as needed basis.

15% Treatment Documentation and Planning: Maintain a contact log for all contacts with parents and other relevant agencies. Ensure the timely completion of quarterly comprehensive progress reports for each student. Contribute to the development and implementation of treatment plans and complete regularly scheduled evaluation of treatment plans. Update all treatment goals, Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and therapy notes on consistent and timely basis. Attend and participate in all clinical meetings, reviews and IEP meetings.

15% Milieu Maintenance: Participate in the development of policies and procedures for all-school programming including clinical and educational services. Provide necessary support to teachers, counselors and adjunct personnel. Assist in crisis management when necessary and appropriate. Model therapeutic and effective interactions with the students throughout all aspects of the program. Participate in all school events and activities including, but not limited to: holidays, birthdays, graduations, new student arrivals and anniversaries.

10% Other duties as assigned by the Principal.


Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.), Clinical Social Worker, Social Worker, Clinical Professional Counselor, School Psychologist, or School Social Worker required; a minimum of three year's experience providing individual and group psychotherapy with children and adolescents required; experience in providing treatment in a group care setting or school preferred; certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) required within three months of employment; excellent oral and written communication skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; a strong commitment to a strengths based perspective; a willingness to work in a high demanding work situation that requires flexibility and innovativeness required; cultural competency required; physical capacity to be trained in and to utilize non-violent physical intervention techniques required.

Mental Demands:

Must be well organized, task oriented, and capable of completing a number of responsibilities at one time. Must possess psychologically sophisticated understanding of mental health issues and interventions not only so that they can provide mental health services, but also so that they can adequately assist in the training of non-professional mental health care staff.

Physical Demands:

Must have the physical capacity to be trained in and to utilize non-violent physical intervention techniques (TCI), if needed. Must have the physical ability to monitor and supervise an active group of school-aged children.
