Position Summary

Coordinates, prepares and processes bi-weekly and monthly payroll for hourly and salaried staff and ensures compliance with wage and hour laws. Responsible for related recordkeeping and accounting activities. Serves as the first point of contact for staff in matters of pay, time and attendance.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly and monthly payroll using Paylocity or another third-party payroll-processing vendor.
  • Perform manual payroll and timecard adjustments as needed.
  • Manage direct deposits, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, garnishments, wage and hour law compliance, paid time off.
  • Maintain time and attendance module in Paylocity to ensure accurate time off accruals.
  • Ensure proper and timely funding of retirement plans based on payroll withholdings and employer contributions identified in the payroll register.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings of payroll-related returns.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws.
  • Enter payroll portion of the new hire paperwork.
  • Respond to staff requests for information and help resolve payroll-related problems.
  • Assist in related accounting functions
  • Develop and run payroll related management reports as needed
  • Support periodic financial statement and 403(b) audits through payroll reconciliations.
  • Other duties as assigned


Bachelor's degree and three-five years of payroll experience required. Related experience may be substituted for education. Knowledge of the federal, state and local wage and hour laws required. Experience with Paylocity or another third-party payroll-processing vendor preferred. Must be detail-oriented, organized, able to handle multiple deadlines and be a team player. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills are a must. Basic Excel skills required.
