Position Summary:

Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats participants who live with mental, emotional, behavioral, or nervous disorders, including but not limited to mood disorders with our without suicidal ideation, severe anxiety disorders involving debilitating obsessions and compulsions or school refusal, cognitive disorders involving psychotic symptomology such as schizoaffective disorder or schizophrenia, and pervasive developmental disorders such as high functioning autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Provides individual, group, and, at times, family therapy services.  Facilitates coordination of therapeutic services to help transitional planning in life skills areas such as, but not limited to; vocational development, post-secondary education, financial management, nutrition, recreation, socialization, identity exploration, and healthy relationships. Participates in administrative and clinical supervision with a licensed clinical professional.

Essential Functions:

Therapy Services: Provide individual therapy sessions once or twice a week for up to 10 participants. Conduct one therapy group once a week. Facilitates coordination of therapeutic services to help transitional planning in life skills areas such as, but not limited to; vocational development, post-secondary education, financial management, nutrition, recreation, socialization, identity exploration, and healthy relationships. Participate in family work on an as needed basis. On call duties required.

Documentation and Planning: Completes and ensures timely and accurate documentation of clinical and transitional plans for participants who live with mental, emotional, behavioral, or nervous disorders, including but not limited to mood disorders with our without suicidal ideation, severe anxiety disorders involving debilitating obsessions and compulsions or school refusal, cognitive disorders involving psychotic symptomology such as schizoaffective disorder or schizophrenia, and pervasive developmental disorders such as high functioning autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Provides individual, group, and, at times, family therapy services. Serves as a role model, particularly regarding treating oneself and others with respect and dignity.  Helps in continued program advancement and fosters a strengths based culture. Participates in administrative and clinical supervision with Clinical Supervisor.

Program Maintenance: Participate in the development of policies and procedures for program including clinical and transitional services. Provide necessary support to other program staff. Model therapeutic and effective interactions with the participants throughout all aspects of the program. Participate in all program events and activities including, but not limited to: holidays, birthdays, graduations, new participant arrivals and anniversaries.

Education/Experience Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree or higher in the field of mental health required.  A minimum of three year's of experience providing individual, group or family psychotherapy with emerging adults required.

 

Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task required.
  • Psychologically sophisticated understanding of mental health issues and interventions to provide mental health services and to adequately assist in the training of non-professional mental health care staff required.
  • Physical ability to monitor and supervise an active group of participants required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • A strong commitment to strength perspective, empowering families and a willingness to work in a high demanding work situation that requires flexibility and innovativeness required.
  • Cultural competency required.

  

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Effort: Ability to bend, crouch, or stoop
  • Ability to carry or lifts loads of 25 to 49 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for 4 hours or more
  • Ability to use computers extensively for 2 hours to 4 hours
  • Ability to climb stairs up to 2 stories
  • Ability to run
  • Ability to stand for 2 hours to 4 hours
  • Ability to Use Standard Office Equipment
